Week Eleven: I become a cartoonist
A good week this week.
I kicked off my new project: railsexplained.com and had a blast finally learning about some Rails stuff that has lingered around the edge of my understanding for a few years.
I wrote a couple of blog posts talking about how Rails and Ruby load files - you can read them here and here.
I particularly enjoyed doing the cartoons that accompanied each post. Here’s my favourite one:
I find these cartoons pretty easy to do (I use an Apple Pencil with the Procreate app on my iPad). I think they make quite a lot of difference to technical articles like these, making them more fun and accessible.
Now that I’ve written a couple of posts, I need to spend some time this week sharing them around the internet. There are a few Ruby/Rails aggregation sites/newsletters that I can send it to, which will hopefully result in some traffic.
Cofounders
Also continued to have useful chats with potential cofounders on the Y-Combinator cofounder matching platform. I definitely want to spend a few weeks building a prototype when I come back from holidays in September.
Hopefully will be able to share more on this shortly.
Have a great week all!
