Week Twenty-Five: In which I have been a secret squirrel
Whoops.
I definitely stopped publishing this blog once a week. Almost 6 weeks have passed since my last post. Will try and stop that happening again, and get back to the weekly schedule.
What Have You Been Up To?
Actually, my absence from the blogosphere makes some sense, in that I’ve been working on a new project that’s a little bit secret.
It’s not a matter of national security, but I’ve been working on a project where we don’t want to tip off the competition about our product.
So this comeback post will actually have to be kind of brief.
Hang on, what about your last project?
I have stopped working on the energy modelling project, which I detailed in my last two blog posts. It’s a fascinating area, but it was a really tough nut to crack. I couldn’t see a way to make money from it in the near term.
The new project seems like it could make money pretty quickly. It solves an urgent business need, and seems well within the capabilities of a small tech team (ie me).
I’m pretty excited!
So what can you tell us?
I can tell you that:
-
This week I’ve been working on integrating Stripe (the payments platform) into the product. Ths will be the first time I’ve put a “Buy” button on a website (I understand this is a fairly key part of making money on the internet).
-
The project is vaguely connected to the world of property.
-
I’ve been working with a marketing co-founder who’s got deep subject knowledge - which has been great.
-
We’re hoping to put our landing page and mailing list sign-up form out next week, and open the app up to actual users at some point in November.
Until then - y’all have a good week!
